About me
In June of 2021, I stepped away from corporate America and a 20+ year career in IT and officially began my entrepreneurial journey. Around that same time, I would always tell my son that he was the Vice President (or Vice Prez) of my company—"the “VP.” So, when it came time to choose a DJ name, the only thing that felt right was “Prez.” It keeps me connected to him at all times and reminds me why I do what I do.
Music has always been a major part of my life. Born in Wash DC, and primarily raised in Prince George’s county, Maryland (the DMV), it started with (and still is…) Go-Go—the heartbeat of the city—then expanded into Hip-Hop and R&B. That soundtrack shaped who I am and eventually inspired me to step behind the turntables myself. When I decided I wanted to take DJ’ing seriously, I sought out the highly respected DJ Sixth Sense, and invested in private lessons to learn the mechanics of DJing. The rest, as they say, is history.
I love a good challenge, and DJ’ing is definitely that for me! It’s a skill… a craft! And a good DJ takes pride in controlling the room making it impossible for the crowd to know when one song ends and the next one begins! And I love to see the look on the crowds’ face or the collective “ooooooooh!!!!” when I get it just right. But what I love most about DJ’ing is literally watching the physical and emotional transformation the music creates. It can shift your mood, immediately transport you back to a moment in time long forgotten, or lift your spirit when you need it most. That’s the experience I try to give every crowd I play for; that feeling never gets old — and that’s why I love what I do.
Now you know a little about me!
